You know,
humans are social animals and nights should be for partying, whether it's
going out to the clubs or hanging with a few friends around the kitchen
table. You're probably saying, "That's easy for a rock star to say, but some of us have to work our asses off 10 to 12 hours a day just to scrape by and we don't have the time, energy, or money to do anything but come home, watch a little TV and go to bed." Why should life be like this? Why not have a life where you work 4 or 5 hours a day and spend the rest of your time having fun. Is this any way to have a successful life? Perhaps it depends on how you define success. You have been taught to measure your success in financial terms. I'm personally more inclined to measure my success in life in terms of musical ability, having fun, and attaining a certain amount of harmony and finesse in my physical movements and in dealing with people, things, and situations. Why are so many people so caught up in spending their whole lives chasing the almighty dollar? Perhaps you sense that I'm about to go into an anticorporate rant. You might be right. I could write a book on this subject, but here I'm just going to bring up a few of my ideas and ask for your ideas. Email me. Let me know your opinions and experiences. You know, there are a number of ultra-greedy, ultra-wealthy people at the top of their self-ordained corporate hierarchy who are ripping us all off, in every conceivable way and giving us rah-rah pep rally speeches about how great it all is. You are being psychologically manipulated constantly. If nothing else, I would like to remove the scales from everybody's eyes so they can see what's going on. Are you familiar with the Wal-Mart business model? I'm sure you're familiar with Wal-Mart: They're everywhere. The Wal-Mart business model is the most financially successful model on the planet. It's made billionaires of a certain very conservative, very religious family by ripping off its workers and killing off its competition. The people who actually do the work to create the wealth are paid so low, they are encouraged to apply for food stamps. The workers are told to work overtime for free and given pep rally talks how important it is for "team members" to help bring in the payroll figures under quota. That is actually stealing from the employee to add billions more to the billionaires's pocketbooks. Wal-Mart treats its employees with so little regard that its employee turnover rate ranges from 60% to as high as 300% per year at some stores. When Wal-Mart moves into an area, its competition-killing tactics destroy 3 jobs for every 2 low-paying jobs it creates. Right now 1 out of 119 American workers work for Wal-Mart. All the other large corporations feel the need to follow Wal-Mart's "successful" business model. Is this what the future looks like? Will you have to work 2 or 3 jobs, 60 to 80 hours a week, just to scrape by, go further and further into debt, and be "on paper" to the banks and credit institutions for your entire life? E-mail me at and let me know what you think. What can be done about this? Personally, I prefer Ghandi's techniques. Ghandi freed the people in India from the most powerful empire in the world at the time simply by asking people to stop cooperating with the British who were ripping them off. What can you do? Join the movement. Stop supporting the large corporations in any way you can. Stop shopping at Wal-Mart. I know this is easier said than done. It took me a while to break the Wal-Mart habit. But do what you can. Find alternatives. Check our Internet sites such as
E-mail me at and let me know what your ideas are. The anticorporate movement is already starting to have an effect. Wal-Mart's profits are starting to slip and they have a major public relations problem. That is why they have had to change their TV commercials from advertising low prices to advertising how wonderful they are for the community. The Edge, 103.9, one of the major FM rock radio stations in our area that we are being played on, has been loudly announcing their independence. They are owned by one owner and advertise their lack of corporation domination. One of their slogans is "You have to live in a corporate world, but you shouldn't have to listen to corporate radio." So if you're ever in the Phoenix, Arizona, area, check out The Edge, 103.9 FM! We're also being played on various anticorporate Internet radio stations, such as Radio Freakout in New York City, Radio Free Exile in Mesa, Arizona, Lexrock.com in Kentucky, and many more! Let me know what you think. I feel like I've just barely touched on the subject. I also have strong opinions on government, politics, religion, the media, and any other hierarchical, authoritarian structures that work hard to control our thinking for their profit. I think we should think for ourselves and create our own lives. Let me know what you think and when we come to play in your town perhaps we can get together and party all night long!
