Film Stuff

I started studying film production at Scottsdale Community College (SCC) in 2004.  It's a terrific film school, with some amazing teachers, and you get immediate hands-on experience!

My first semester, Fall of 2004, I took Digital Multimedia with Anna Thorláksdóttir, Photography with Chris Colville, Photoshop CS 1 with Rachel Woodburn (see her pinhole camera photos here!), History of Cinema with Janet Robinson, and Fundamentals of Radio and Television with Charlie Martin.  This semester was my introduction to the Mac.  The Photoshop isn't a core class but it's one of my favorites.

The second semester, Spring of 2005, I took Photoshop CS 2 with Rachel Woodburn, Screenwriting 1 with Marvin Kupfer, Producing and Finance for Independent Film with Terence Donnelly, and what is referred to as "boot camp," which is the pre-production, production, and post-production of your first 16mm film.  In that series I was taught by Dr. Penelope Price, Eric Sundt, Anna Thorláksdóttir, and Chris Jensen.  This semester was quite a bit more intense than the first semester but it went very well!  I also was a lab tech during this semester.

Third semester, Fall 2005.  Screenwriting 2, Introduction to Non-linear Editing with AVID, Photoshop (CS2) 3, TV Broadcasting.  Will write more after finals!

Fourth semester, Spring 2006.  Registered for Screenwriting, Advanced AVID, Editing Portfolio, Cinematography, and Photoshop !

I will continue with my screenwriting but my ultimate goal in the next few years is to become an independent producerScottsdale Studios is the production company my friend Rick Dyer and my wife, Alicia Brewer, have formed while we work on a number of different scripts.

______________

During the summer of 2005 I'm was busy recording the theme song for Paper Bag Man, scoring a couple of short film projects, and working as a PA for the producer and unit production manager of the feature-length romantic comedy Moonpie (formerly called The Principal and the 3rd Grade Teacher).  I'm also working part-time as a lab tech for SCC's Motion Picture and TV Department.

Earlier that summer I acted in Thor's Hammer, a short film by one of my teachers, Eric Sundt.  You can check out photos and commentary here.

There's more stuff about me here....
